Bards Day 2016 Highlights Long Island’s Best Poets

Goldfinch Publishing’s Michael McCarthy reads his poem “Kindred Souls” at Bards Day 2016.
On July 23, poets on Long Island, including Goldfinch’s own Michael McCarthy, gathered to celebrate “Bards Day,” a creation of the Bards Initiative.
Michael’s poem “Kindred Souls,” from the Goldfinch book The Ways of Grace, was selected for publication in the book tie-in, Bards Annual 2016.
The Annual is published by the Bards Initiative – a New York State Non-Profit Corporation dedicated to using poetry to help the Long Island community. The Initiative provides avenues for poets to share their work and aims to encourage and inspire the writing and performing of poetry on Long Island and create a welcoming community for poets. It is the core belief of the Bards Initiative that poetry is the voice of the people and can be used to make a difference.
